Ambulance Victoria review – Update 23 (24 September 2024)

Phase 3 of the Commission’s workplace equality review of Ambulance Victoria is progressing rapidly. The progress evaluation audit is assessing Ambulance Victoria’s progress towards implementing the 25 priority recommendations from Phase 1 of the review.

24 September 2024

I’m pleased to provide this update on the Commission’s Independent review into workplace equality at Ambulance Victoria

Since my last update, the Commission has been establishing our findings on Ambulance Victoria’s progress towards implementing the 25 priority recommendations from Phase 1 of the review. The Commission is committed to providing an accurate picture of progress at Ambulance Victoria, so we are carefully considering all of the documents and data at our disposal.

In early September, we met with representatives from across Ambulance Victoria to share early findings from our analysis. This discussion was incredibly helpful to better understand Ambulance Victoria’s work to implement the priority recommendations. This will help to shape our progress evaluation audit report into a useful resource that will assist Ambulance Victoria’s efforts to  implement the review recommendations.

The Commission is now finalising its analysis and findings in relation to each recommendation covered by the audit, and has begun the process of writing our digital report.

As we progress our review, I have been struck by the dedication shown by Ambulance Victoria staff across branches and divisions within the organisation. It is clear that improving workplace equality is extremely important to the Ambulance Victoria workforce and I will continue to be mindful of this as we move into the next stages of the progress evaluation audit.

Where can I go if I need help?

As noted in my earlier updates, the Commission is not taking written submissions during Phase 3 of the review. If you have experienced discrimination, sexual harassment, victimisation or bullying and need support, please refer to our support service and referral directory.

If you would like to speak with someone about other opportunities for addressing unlawful behaviour, you can contact our Enquiry Line on 1300 292 153 for more information.

How can I stay up to date on the progress of the review?

I’ll continue to share monthly updates on our progress throughout Phase 3 of the review. If you would like to sign up to our distribution list, please email the AV review team at AVreview@veohrc.vic.gov.au

As we enter the wet and windy start of spring, I hope you stay dry and be safe.

Warmly

Ro Allen
